Years ago I took our high school youth group to summer camp and while I was there I had an amusing conversation with a one of my favorite songwriter / worship leaders. We were talking about how our wives both were a little bugged that we didn’t write songs for them anymore. Now, I used to write Jenny mushy songs in high school but somehow mushy songs just didn’t flow like they did when I was in the wooing stage of our relationship. With that in mind I also realized that I didn’t need to write a wooing song but life song. A song about the things I love most about my wife. A song about the things I like most about us as a couple and her potential in Christ. There are a lot of hard things that go with marriage, especially marriage at a young age, but one of the greatest blessings is getting to watch each other grow up on this journey to Christ. We get to see all of the ways God has moved us closer to becoming the people that He designed us to be. This song is about that journey and keeping God at helm. Always striving to submit to the Lord in life and marriage. When we do that well, we give each other and our children the greatest gift we could ever give, a Christian home. “May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.” Proverbs 5:18
Master of our House
CHORUS Lord Grant me one more day to watch this woman that you gave, gave to me Becoming the woman that you created her to be As we grow together soul to soul, hand in hand we stand with our heads bowed May we never love each other more than we love you The master of our house
She floats on a cloud, and she hovers on a prayer I just smile with pride ‘cause I know that you are there, my Jesus How she worships you in the things you have made In the flowers and the mountains, in the ocean and a summer’s day Lord I always want to see that she’s the wife that you have given to me She’s the wife, the love of my youth
I remember the day I saw you sitting alone I would have been much nicer then if I had only known You would change my life forever, you would make it all worth while You can melt my heart and turn me around with your little girl smile Lord I always want to see that she’s the wife that you have given to me She’s the wife, the love of my youth
Never could see, never believed, never knew all the things you had for we Now I believe ‘cause I have seen, your faithfulness to our family May we walk straight may we walk pure, may we run the race and make you proud May our life be a testimony may we show your love and grace in everything we do ‘Cause you are God and we worship you
CHORUS
