In Search of a Biblical Marriage: God’s Desire and Design for Christian Homes
|
Little girls dream of it from the time they are children. It is the theme for countless sonnets, songs, books and films. For countless months love sick couples plan for the moment when they will slip a ring over one another’s trembling finger and say “I do”. Then it begins. A lifetime of learning how gloriously unprepared they were to climb into one another’s life.
As my wife and I entered into our marriage at age twenty and nineteen, we deeply desired to know with certainty what the path to a godly marriage looked like. Unfortunately, we found neither written nor personal resources that could give more than a cursory gloss of some of the most basic Biblical principles for marriage.
As I searched I found that there were very few resources available that gave me any sense of confidence in what God had to say. Rather, I found tool after tool giving me the best answer psychology had to offer with a stamp of approval from the evangelical church.
Does God have a purpose for marriage that transcends our frustrations, vacation plans, children stresses and financial strains? His Word affirms, yes. And then it shows us how to live in that transcendent place where our blossoming relationship with Him takes precedence over everything else and thus gives us the supernatural apparatus with which to handle anything else.
My desire is that this book will take its you on a journey through grace, showing how God has a plan for every moment of happiness and pain, every instant of victory and defeat. That purpose will change forever how a man loves his wife and woman her husband. More importantly it will be the door into which the you will fall deeper in love with Jesus and find Him at the center of their marriage relationship.
