About the APB

Aaron Porter is a San Luis native who has been performing his musical musings for over twenty years. He has been serving as a pastor since 1996 and loves bringing his passion for the soul's journey into the language of music. He leads the group from the guitar and piano.

Ben Barczi
hails from the Bay Area but has called San Luis Obispo his home for the past eight years. A pastor with a degree in Philosophy, he wears thick rimmed glasses... and plays guitar, banjo and mandolin for the band as well as adding his baritone harmonies to the mix.

Ed Chow
came down from San Francisco to study engineering at Cal Poly and never left. By day a machinist and by night the Kaiser of the Kick drum, the Sultan of the snare, the... t something of the toms.

Gary Weyel
is a copy writer from Sacramento who was the last to join the ensemble. He pounds the keys, the B3 organ and honorably squeezes the accordion as well as filling in the high harmonies on backing vocals.

Bryan McLain is another SLO native who has played the bass the world over and really seems to like frapuccino drinks from Starbucks. He works his day job as a film maker who blends his two passions when he can by producing and directing music videos for other California bands.

“APB strives to balance their zeal with knowledge, to invest their lives in the daily discipline of Bible study, and then, to write with the fire, passion and enthusiasm which that study has illumined to communicate the glorious language of the church - the holy Word of God!”

Steve Camp (singer/songwriter)

"Aaron Porter's ministry flows out of a contagious passion for God's glory. His calling as a bold proclaimer of the message of the cross is undeniable. He is both innovative and relevant in ways that always keep Christ at center stage. I wholeheartedly recommend his ministry."

Todd Proctor (Lead Pastor - Rock Harbor Church)

"Aaron Porter writes and sings music that creates an atmosphere for students to receive truth. Youth and adults alike relate to his passion and pastoral leadership.

Dr. Corey Melia (Senior Pastor - Capistrano Valley Bible Church)

Aaron has served at our school's Chaffer Conference the past four years, leading worship for our students. The effectively turn the attention off of themselves and turn the attection to God, causing our students to glorify God and communicate their deepest need for Him. Their music is theologically accurate, as well as possessing a sound of high quality. Aaron has been a blessing to our students both through their music and their teaching

Shane Sanders (Chaffer Conference Coordinator, North County Christian School)

WHAT IS A LIVING ROOM CONCERT?

A living room concert is everything you might expect from a full concert in any other larger venue but in the comfort and intimacy of your living room. This venue was used extensively by the preachers of the New Testament and for good reason. There are few things as enjoyable as coming together with other brothers and sisters in Christ and experiencing the closeness and hospitality that comes from a living room experience.

ANYONE CAN HOST A CONCERT

One of the greatest aspects of a living room concert is the fact that everyone has a living room. These concerts are not for people with large venues, they are for people with good friends. If you have a small group, an unsaved neighbor or just some folks in the church that you would like to bring together for an evening of challenge and encouragement then give us a call and we’ll set something up.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

NOT A DIME! This is a ministry and far be it from us to peddle the Word of God. Aaron is a pastor with a burning passion to see God’s church grow up and discover the joy of living the true Christian life.

HOW DO I ORGANIZE A LIV ING ROOM CONCERT?

First call Aaron at 805-471-2212 or e-mail him at doulosmusic@gmail.com and set up a date. Then invite five more people than you think can fit in your living room. We have never seen a living room that couldn’t fit at least fifteen people (even small apartments in Simi Valley California). After you’ve invited your friends Aaron will give you a call and ask some key questions about who will be coming and how best to tailor the concert to challenge their “next step” needs. The night of the concert make sure that Aaron is able to set up at least two hours before the ministry time and that is it! These concerts were not designed to necessitate a professional promoter, only a believer who loves the people around them.
